Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji is conducting an official visit to the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Monday.
According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, al-Araji’s visit came at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart, Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
The agency reported that the discussions between the two sides are expected to focus on strengthening joint security and intelligence cooperation, coordinating efforts in counterterrorism, and enhancing economic collaboration to serve the mutual interests of both countries.
The meetings will also address key regional developments, as well as border-related issues of shared concern.
Al-Araji’s visit coincides with the upcoming parliamentary elections in Iraq, the ceasefire in Gaza, and ongoing political developments in Syria.
