Kremlin: Iran Is Our Partner and We Are Ready to Expand Cooperation.

Coinciding with the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy to Tehran, the Kremlin affirmed that Iran is a partner of Russia.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated in a press briefing on Monday that Russia is ready to expand cooperation with Tehran across all fields.

This comes after Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported that the Russian envoy is scheduled to meet with Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, later this evening. The meeting follows Larijani’s visit to Moscow last week, during which he delivered a message from Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

Larijani had previously met with President Putin at the Kremlin to hand over the message from Khamenei. Reports at the time indicated that the talks focused on expanding economic and security cooperation, as well as developments in West Asia and the Caucasus.

Today’s meeting is expected to follow up on those discussions and explore a roadmap for future cooperation between the two countries.

Political observers in Tehran believe that the intensification of these meetings reflects a growing level of coordination between the two sides amid shifting regional power dynamics. They also suggest that today’s talks will focus on advancing high-level understandings, signaling a transition in Iran-Russia relations from symbolic consultations to practical cooperation.
