Houthis End Truce with the U.S. and Add 13 Companies and 9 Individuals to Their Target List.

The Houthi group in Yemen has announced the end of its truce with the United States and declared its intention to target major American oil companies such as ExxonMobil and Chevron.

According to Reuters, the Humanitarian Operations Coordination Center—based in Sana’a and serving as a liaison between the Houthis and commercial shipping companies—has placed 13 U.S. companies, nine individuals, and two vessels on a sanctions list.

This escalation comes despite a previous ceasefire agreement with President Donald Trump's administration, which stipulated that U.S.-linked ships sailing in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden would not be attacked.

In May, the United States and the Houthis agreed to a ceasefire under which neither side would target the other.

However, in early September, the U.S. imposed a new round of sanctions on the Houthis in Yemen, described by President Trump’s administration as the most extensive action Washington has taken against the Iran-aligned group.

The U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctions on 32 individuals and entities, as well as four ships, aiming to disrupt the Houthis’ fundraising, smuggling operations, and attacks.

Among the sanctioned targets were several Chinese companies accused of helping transfer military components, along with other firms facilitating the shipment of dual-use goods to the Houthis, according to Reuters.

The Treasury also stated that the sanctions target oil smugglers and shipping companies linked to the Houthis.
