Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu apologized on Monday to Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman for the airstrike that targeted Hamas leaders in Doha. The apology was delivered during a phone call from the White House, according to a diplomatic source.
The source, speaking anonymously, said Netanyahu expressed regret for violating Qatar’s sovereignty and for the death of a Qatari security officer in the strike, which took place earlier this month.
On September 9, Israel targeted a residential neighborhood in Doha where Hamas leaders were reportedly reviewing a U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza.
