Legal advisor Nizar Ahmed revealed in a phone call with the official news agency that Spanish coach Jesús Casas filed a lawsuit against the Iraqi Football Association after his contract was terminated verbally, with notification of his dismissal given on the same day.

Ahmed explained that the contract included a penalty clause requiring the association to pay $550,000 plus one and a half months’ salary if the termination occurred without legal justification.

According to Nizar, the total compensation amounts to approximately $3 million, distributed as follows: $550,000 for Coach Casas, with the remainder allocated to his assistants as scheduled salaries through early 2027.
