On Sunday, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced his country’s official recognition of the State of Palestine.
In his statement, Carney said, “The current Israeli government is systematically working to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.”
Similarly, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also officially recognized the State of Palestine.
According to a government statement, “Australia recognizes the legitimate and longstanding aspirations of the Palestinian people for a state of their own.”
The statement added, “Hamas must have no role in Palestine.”
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed that the United Kingdom officially recognizes the State of Palestine.
He stated, “Today we join more than 150 countries that recognize the Palestinian state,” noting that “hope for a two-state solution is fading, but we cannot let that light go out.”
He also called on Hamas to “immediately release the hostages, and we will continue the struggle to bring them home,” emphasizing that “the two-state solution is not a reward for Hamas, as the group has no future and no role in governance.”
