Following Hamas’ announcement of its readiness to negotiate the release of hostages, the U.S. responded.
President Donald Trump said on Monday that a deal regarding the Gaza Strip could be reached very soon. Speaking to reporters after attending the U.S. Open tennis final in New York City, Trump expressed his belief that a Gaza agreement is no longer far off.
He added that European leaders would visit the United States on Monday and Tuesday to discuss ways to end the Russia-Ukraine war, noting that he would speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin soon.
This came after Hamas stated it was in talks with mediators to reach a comprehensive agreement in the besieged Gaza Strip. The group said it had previously accepted the U.S. proposal but had not received any response from Israel, declaring its willingness to negotiate the release of hostages.
Hamas also welcomed any mediator efforts aimed at ending the war.
