Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed on Friday that his country is ready to resume negotiations regarding its nuclear program—on one condition.
Araghchi criticized European positions following the announcement by France, Germany, and the United Kingdom to activate the mechanism for reimposing sanctions on Tehran, asserting that this move is “illegal” and complicates the prospects for a diplomatic solution.
He pointed out that “the three European countries do not have the legal authority to reimpose sanctions.”
During phone calls with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, Araghchi also condemned the activation of the punitive mechanism, warning that Tehran “will take appropriate action in response to the provocative behavior of the European troika.”
