Iraq is the second-largest importer of Jordanian exports within the Greater Arab Free Trade Area.

Recent official data revealed that Iraq ranked second among Arab countries importing from Jordan during the first half of the current year, with a value of 431 million Jordanian dinars. This falls within the framework of trade exchange among countries in the Greater Arab Free Trade Area.

According to the foreign trade report issued by Jordan’s Department of Statistics, Jordanian national exports to countries in the region rose by 16.9%, reaching approximately 1.851 billion dinars, compared to 1.583 billion dinars during the same period last year. These exports accounted for 42.3% of Jordan’s total exports.

Saudi Arabia ranked first as the largest importer, with a value of 612 million dinars, followed by Iraq with 431 million dinars. This reflects the strength of trade ties between Baghdad and Amman and highlights Iraq’s importance as a key market for Jordanian products.

It is worth noting that the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, which includes 18 Arab countries, came into effect in January 2005. Its goal is to enhance economic integration and facilitate the flow of goods by reducing customs duties among member states.
