Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, commenting on the Syrian government, said:
"I'm not a naïve person, and I understand who we're dealing with."
In a statement following his meeting with Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, the spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel, Netanyahu said:
"We have seen aspects of the massacre—some of its dimensions—which become clearer and deeper day by day... Together, we are working to bring this matter to the attention of the world, or at least to the public and to very important individuals."
He added:
"Hardly a day goes by without me speaking about it and raising it in the media. It’s important that this reaches powerful and influential decision-makers around the world. That’s what we’re doing. I’m not a naïve person. I understand who we’re facing and what we’re facing."
emphasizing that "we will have a settlement."
