After 12 days of unprecedented war between Israel and Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a ceasefire.
In a statement on Tuesday, Netanyahu said, "Following intensive diplomatic and security efforts, a comprehensive ceasefire agreement with Iran has been reached.
He added that the agreement will gradually come into effect in the next few hours, ending the fighting that has taken place over the past twelve days.
He also emphasized that "Israel will continue to maintain its security and the freedom to operate wherever and whenever necessary." He extended his gratitude to the Israeli army soldiers, commanders, security forces, and the people "for their resilience and unity during these difficult days," according to his statement.
