Pope Leo XIV issues an urgent appeal for peace in the Middle East.

At the conclusion of his jubilee audience with believers in St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Leo XIV delivered a poignant appeal to the world, expressing deep concern over the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. In what he described as a "critical moment," the Supreme Pontiff urged for reason and responsibility, reaffirming the Church’s commitment to working toward a safer world—free from nuclear threats and built on the foundations of justice, fraternity, and the common good.

Pope Leo XIV stated, "These days, troubling reports have emerged, indicating a serious deterioration of the situation in Iran and Israel." At such a delicate stage, I wish to renew my call for responsibility and reason. The commitment to building a safer world, free from nuclear threats, must be pursued through mutual respect and honest dialogue to establish lasting peace founded on justice, fraternity, and the common good. No one should ever threaten the existence of another. It is the duty of all nations to support the cause of peace by initiating paths of reconciliation and promoting solutions that guarantee security and dignity for all!"
