Security sources reported that the city of Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine experienced a deadly night following a wide-scale Russian drone assault, resulting in casualties and extensive destruction.
Largest Recent Russian Attack
According to Ukrainian authorities, Russia launched its most extensive attack in recent days, deploying 90 attack drones and two ballistic missiles targeting Kharkiv, Odesa, and Donetsk.
The attack injured at least eight people, including two teenagers, according to Kharkiv's military governor, Oleh Syniehubov.
Damage & Civilian Impact
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov stated that the attack struck a municipal facility, causing a large fire in the surrounding area. Additionally, over 30 residential buildings suffered varying degrees of damage.
Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, located just 30 kilometers from the Russian border, has been a constant target of aerial attacks since the Russian invasion, keeping it on high alert.
Russian Defense Response
Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed that its air defenses had downed 48 Ukrainian drones, most of them over the border region of Belgorod, signaling continued military escalation between the two sides.
