The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Friday that the meeting between Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani and Syria's transitional leader Ahmed Al-Sharaa was positive and sincere in advancing Arab cooperation.
According to Qatari news agency QNA, ministry spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed Al-Ansari stated, "The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, sponsored the meeting held in Doha between Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani. This initiative stems from Qatar's commitment to strengthening Arab unity and fostering joint Arab cooperation, which serves as a fundamental pillar for regional security, stability, and prosperity, as well as fulfilling the aspirations of the people."
Al-Ansari added that the meeting took place in a constructive atmosphere, reflecting mutual understanding and rapprochement between both sides, with a genuine desire to further Arab cooperation for the benefit of the region’s people.
He expressed Qatar’s gratitude and appreciation to Syria and Iraq for their constructive engagement in this initiative, acknowledging their positive response, which contributed to the success of this brotherly meeting. Al-Ansari also voiced Qatar’s hope that the meeting would lead to enhanced cooperation and constructive consultations between the two nations, ultimately benefiting their peoples and the region as a whole.
