Iran and the United States announced that they held positive talks in Oman and agreed to resume what were described as constructive negotiations next week. Tehran indicated that Washington is seeking a swift nuclear agreement as soon as possible, while U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking aboard Air Force One, stated that talks with Iran are progressing well.
The statements from the Iranian Foreign Ministry were described as "concise and effective." The ministry emphasized that the negotiations took place in a positive atmosphere and that this round of talks was constructive, paving the way for more successful negotiations.
There were no contradictory statements from the United States, suggesting a potentially good start to these negotiations after a break of more than seven years since the U.S. withdrew from the talks.
Notably, a meeting on the sidelines of this round of negotiations between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Whitcoff was highlighted in Iranian media as a result of the positive atmosphere surrounding the first round of talks.
It was agreed to continue these negotiations, with the next round scheduled for Saturday. This is another indication that the talks are moving in the right direction.
