Morocco's National Social Security Fund (CNSS) announced an extensive investigation into the leak of sensitive files containing personal and professional data of hundreds of thousands of businesses and two million Moroccan citizens as a result of a cyberattack.
According to the Moroccan site Rue20, informed sources reported that security and military agencies have intervened to investigate the cyberattack that targeted Moroccan government websites, including the Ministry of Employment's website and the CNSS database.
Sources indicated that the leaked data included information about companies and individuals, revealing sensitive details such as registration numbers, declared salaries, national ID numbers, and personal phone numbers.
The cyberattack began by targeting the official website of the Ministry of Employment on Tuesday, April 8, and later extended to stealing information from the CNSS database.
Reports revealed that the large-scale attack affected approximately 54,000 PDF files and included data from 500,000 Moroccan companies and two million citizens.
The operation also targeted several vital institutions, including Banque Populaire, the Mohammed VI Investment Fund, Bank Al-Maghrib, and the Israeli Liaison Office in Morocco.
