White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt announced that Iran possessing nuclear weapons is a "red line" for Washington.
Levitt said in a press briefing, "The President has made it clear that he will never allow Iran to have nuclear capability." She added, "This is the red line he has drawn, and he will not allow it to happen.
President Trump warned Iranian leaders against "doing what they are currently thinking about" and urged them to reach a nuclear deal that would prevent a large-scale Israeli or American attack on Iran.
Earlier this month, Trump signed a memo to reinstate the "maximum pressure" policy towards Iran, announcing his intention to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon.
Iran reiterated its rejection of Trump's accusations of manufacturing nuclear weapons, describing them as "a big lie," but expressed its willingness to give the United States "another chance" to resolve disputes between the two countries, noting that the experience of the nuclear agreement has proven the United States' failure to fulfill its commitments.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned earlier that an attack by Israel and the United States on Iranian nuclear facilities would be one of the "biggest mistakes," confirming that Tehran would respond immediately and decisively if its nuclear sites were attacked, which would lead to a "full-scale war" in the region.
