The Lebanese Presidency announced on Saturday the formation of a new government comprising 24 ministers, headed by Nawaf Salam.
The presidency stated in a release, "President Joseph Aoun signed the decree accepting the resignation of Prime Minister Najib Mikati's government, the decree appointing Prime Minister-designate Nawaf Salam, and the decree forming the government of 24 ministers.

Upon formation, Salam's government faces significant challenges, primarily reconstruction and implementing the ceasefire agreement, which stipulates the withdrawal of Israel from areas it entered in the south and adherence to UN Security Council Resolution 1701 of 2006. The resolution includes provisions for Hezbollah's withdrawal from the borders and disarmament of armed groups in Lebanon, limiting arms to legitimate state forces only.
