Mr. Rayan Al-Kildani, Secretary-General of the Babylon Movement, received a delegation from the World Council of Churches, led by Bishop Otto Marsis, Bishop of the Lutheran Church of Norway, in a meeting that discussed ways to enhance cooperation between churches and support the Christian presence in Iraq and the region.
During the meeting, Al-Kildani emphasized the importance of joint work between religious institutions to establish values of brotherhood and peace, pointing out the pivotal role that churches can play in achieving stability and promoting coexistence among the various components of society. He also stressed the Babylon Movement's commitment to defending the rights of Christians and other components, ensuring they enjoy their full rights in their homeland.
For his part, Bishop Otto Marsis praised the efforts of the Babylon Movement in supporting Christians and enhancing their role in society, affirming the World Council of Churches' keenness to cooperate with active entities to strengthen the Christian presence in the Middle East.
The meeting addressed the challenges facing Christians in the region and ways to provide the necessary support to enhance their role in spiritual, social, and humanitarian fields. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the need to continue dialogue and joint cooperation to promote peace and stability in Iraq and the region.
