On Wednesday, Minister of Interior Mr. Abdul Amir Al-Shammari received His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Gewargis III Younan, the Patriarch and Spiritual Leader of the Ancient Church of the East in Iraq and the World, accompanied by a delegation from the church.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minister welcomed the esteemed guest and his accompanying delegation, expressing his pride in the religious and ethnic diversity that characterizes Iraq, emphasizing that this diversity is one of the country's strengths.
Al-Shammari also stressed the Ministry of Interior's commitment to providing a safe and stable environment for all citizens without exception, noting that maintaining security is a top priority to ensure peaceful coexistence among various communities.
For his part, Patriarch Mar Gewargis III Younan expressed his happiness with the security stability in Iraq, affirming that this positive development enhances the opportunities for achieving peace and reassurance for all citizens. He also thanked the Minister of Interior for the warm reception and hospitality, praising the efforts made to enhance security and stability in the country.
