First Lawsuit Against Trump Hours After His Inauguration.

Immigrant rights advocates filed a lawsuit against an executive order signed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which prevents birthright citizenship.

In a statement, the rights activists described the order as unconstitutional, saying, "Immigrant rights advocates today filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over its executive order that seeks to strip some children born in the United States of their American citizenship.

Shortly after his inauguration, Trump issued a series of executive orders and directives to make his mark on his new administration from day one, covering various fields, from energy to criminal pardons and immigration.

At a rally in a sports arena, Trump revoked 78 executive actions of the previous administration, including those related to immigration and granting citizenship.

He also declared a national emergency regarding illegal immigration on the U.S.-Mexico border, classified criminal gangs as terrorist organizations, and revoked automatic citizenship for children born in America to undocumented immigrants.

Additionally, he suspended the refugee resettlement program in the country for at least four months and ordered a security review to determine if travelers from certain countries should be subject to a travel ban.

Trump had promised during his election campaigns months ago to stop the flow of refugees across the Mexican border.

He also launched a wave of criticisms, some described as racist, against undocumented immigrants entering the United States through smuggling or other illegal means, making this issue one of the most prominent topics in the previous presidential race.
