Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Moscow today, Friday, at the invitation of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
According to the "IRNA" news agency, President Pezeshkian will hold separate meetings in Moscow with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister. During this visit, the comprehensive strategic cooperation document between Tehran and Moscow will be signed by the Iranian and Russian presidents.
The Russian presidency (the Kremlin) announced that President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian will discuss the situations in Syria, Gaza, the occupied Palestinian territories, and the Caucasus on Friday in Moscow.
A Kremlin statement said: "The talks are expected to address key issues of mutual interest on the international and regional agenda, including developments in the Middle East, such as Syria and Palestine, the Caucasus region, and the situation surrounding Iran's nuclear program.
Kazem Jalali, the Iranian ambassador to Russia, announced on December 26 that a comprehensive Russian-Iranian agreement would be signed today, January 17, in Moscow during the talks between Presidents Putin and Pezeshkian.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated to Russian media that the agreement embodies Moscow and Tehran's desire to cooperate in the fields of security and defense. It includes, among other things, an international element and pays special attention to enhancing interaction for the benefit of peace and security at both regional and international levels. It reflects the two parties' desire to combat terrorism and extremism and address several other common challenges and threats.
