Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was moved to an "underground fortified wing" on Monday after regaining consciousness following prostate surgery.
The surgery was performed at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem.
Netanyahu's office, in a statement, said that the Prime Minister, 75, "was moved to an underground fortified wing to recover.
The office added, "The surgery was successfully completed without complications, and the Prime Minister woke up in good condition and is fully conscious.
Netanyahu is expected to spend several days under observation in the fortified recovery wing.
The Prime Minister was under full anesthesia for the procedure, which his office said was scheduled after doctors discovered a urinary tract infection due to an enlarged prostate.
In a separate statement from the hospital, Professor Ofer Gofrit, head of the urology department, said the operation "went as planned.
Yesterday, Channel 12 Hebrew confirmed that Netanyahu was diagnosed with prostate cancer. His office explained that he had been taking antibiotics since the condition was discovered, which successfully treated the infection.
The surgery took place while Israel continues its war in the Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing for more than 14 months.
In March, the Israeli Prime Minister underwent hernia repair surgery, and in July of last year, doctors implanted a pacemaker following medical concerns.
