Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari met with Palestinian Ambassador to Iraq, Ahmed Al-Ruwaidy, on Thursday to discuss enhancing cooperation and joint coordination.
Al-Shammari affirmed the deep bilateral relationship between Iraq and Palestine, reiterating Iraq's principled and steadfast stance on the Palestinian cause. He stated that Iraq will continue to defend Palestinian rights and support their needs until they achieve their freedom and independence.
Ambassador Al-Ruwaidy praised Iraq's support for the Palestinian people, appreciating the significant security efforts of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior to enhance security and stability and provide various services.
Al-Ruwaidy briefed the minister on the situation in Palestine amidst the ongoing aggression on Gaza, the efforts of the Palestinian leadership to halt the aggression, introduce aid, and establish the Palestinian state, thanking Iraq for its support to Palestine and its people on all levels.
The meeting also discussed the conditions of Palestinian refugees in Iraq and preparations for the meeting of the joint Palestinian-Iraqi committee at the level of the Ministries of Interior in both countries, scheduled to take place at the beginning of the next year.
