Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a military meeting on Tuesday with the defense minister and senior military and security leaders in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights in Syria.
Netanyahu's office stated that the meeting took place at the foot of the Golan Heights, which Israel annexed after taking control of a UN-monitored buffer zone separating Israeli and Syrian forces.
The office confirmed that "Netanyahu conducted a security assessment regarding the Mount Hermon range with the Defense Minister, Chief of Staff, Northern Command Commander, and the head of the Shin Bet (Internal Security Service).
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz mentioned that he visited the "summit of Mount Hermon" with Netanyahu for the first time since Israeli forces were deployed there following the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad.
