Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani chaired a special meeting today, Monday, to discuss the final procedures for launching the third phase of the historical rehabilitation project of Baghdad, which includes the Al-Midan axis up to Al-Rusafi Square and the Al-Rashid axis. This coincides with the announcement of Baghdad as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2025.
He listened to a detailed explanation of the third phase of the rehabilitation project, which includes areas that have had a significant impact on shaping modern Iraqi history, with their political and social events.
The Prime Minister affirmed his support for all modernization, development, and rehabilitation processes taking place in the capital, especially in the historical areas of Baghdad, stressing the importance of rehabilitating them in a way that makes them a bright face worthy of Baghdad's history and status.
He directed that the third phase of rehabilitation should include providing essential services for tourists, especially since Iraq is currently experiencing significant tourism activity from various nationalities, following the announcement of Baghdad as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2025. This is important for enhancing the country's external image and supporting the economy and development.
