South Korean President: I Am Disappointed... and I Will Step Down After the Parliament Approval of His Impeachment.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol announced on Saturday that he will step down from his position after being impeached by the parliament, expressing a feeling of "deep disappointment" and calling for an end to "confrontational politics.

Yoon told television, "I am extremely disappointed... but I must step down," calling for an end to "excessive and confrontational politics" in favor of "deliberation and thought.

Earlier, in a statement issued by the President's office, Yoon urged government officials to maintain stability in performing their duties during what he described as the "temporary" halt of his presidency.

Yoon said, "I take to heart all the criticism, encouragement, and support directed at me, and I will do my utmost for the country until the last moment.

South Korean parliament members voted today to approve the proposal to impeach President Yoon due to his declaration of martial law, which lasted only a few hours before being canceled earlier this month.
