In a speech addressed to the Iraqi people today, Monday, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani commemorated the seventh anniversary of the victory over terrorism, which falls on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, marking the liberation of the entire land of Iraq from the defilement of terrorist gangs.
Al-Sudani praised the noble sacrifices of the heroic martyrs and the brave wounded, affirming that this day has become a milestone in the nation's journey and a truth we proudly boast about throughout history, thanks to the sacrifices of all Iraqis.
He expressed his appreciation for the support of brothers and friends who stood with Iraqis in facing terrorism and fighting deviant ideologies on behalf of the world, noting that terrorism no longer has a foothold in Iraq today, and its remnants face nothing but defeat before our heroic armed forces.
Al-Sudani stated that Iraq emerged strong, healthy, and victorious, determined to build, reconstruct, and develop, pointing out that the government continues its work in strengthening military and security institutions. Here are the key points from the
Prime Minister's speech:
The supreme religious authority supported the victory with its blessed fatwa.
We direct the continued confrontation of foreign ideas and everything that undermines our social and cultural values, based on our tolerant Islamic and humanitarian creed.
We emphasize addressing all gaps that enabled terrorism to infiltrate and opened a window of deception and recruitment of criminals.
We proceeded with supporting and extending the power of law, achieving justice, reconstructing liberated areas, supporting their people, and returning all residents to their land.
The victory of Iraqis over ISIS confirms the importance of the unity of our people's ranks, and the cities of Iraq have become a workshop for reconstruction and progress.
We must be cautious of the danger of suspicious calls and claims that involve intellectual diseases.
We warn against the consequences of fueling conflicts that produce more destruction, hotspots of extremism, and causes of wars.
We follow the events in Syria, and the countries of the region and the world must act responsibly in maintaining Syria's security and sovereignty and the safety of its people. The choice must be left to the Syrian people, respecting their will, alongside the international responsibility to preserve the unity of Syrian lands and protect the ethnic and religious diversity of Syrians.
Our victory over terrorism imposes on the countries of the region and the world to consider the consequences of ignoring the movements of extremism and terrorism wherever they appear.
