Sudani announces the population census results in Iraq for 2024.


Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani announced that the population census results showed that the total population of Iraq reached 45,407,895 people.

Al-Sudani said in a press conference that "the population of Iraq reached 45,407,495 people, including foreigners and refugees," explaining that "the number of households reached 7,898,588.

Al-Sudani noted that "the number of males reached 22,784,062 people, making up 50.1%, while the number of females reached 22,623,833 people, making up 49.8%.

He pointed out that "the households headed by women make up 11.33% and those headed by men make up 88.67%.

The Prime Minister stated that "the number of dwellings in Iraq reached 8,037,221, explaining that "92.1% are houses, 6.6% are apartments, and 0.4% are mud houses.

He clarified that "the percentage of the population under the working age of 15 years is 36.1%," noting that "the percentage of the population above the working age of 65 and older is 3.7%
