The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent official letters to the Security Council, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in response to the Israeli entity's threats to attack Iraq.
The ministry affirmed in its messages that Iraq is a pillar of stability in its regional and international surroundings and among the countries most committed to the principles of the United Nations Charter. The Iraqi messages indicated that the Israeli entity's letter to the Security Council represents part of a systematic policy to create allegations and pretexts aimed at expanding the scope of conflict in the region.
The ministry emphasized that Iraq's recourse to the Security Council stems from its commitment to the council's role in maintaining international peace and security and the necessity of taking the necessary measures to stop the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon and to compel the Israeli entity to cease the ongoing violence in the region and refrain from issuing threats.
The ministry clarified that Iraq has been keen on exercising restraint regarding the use of its airspace to target one of the neighboring countries, emphasizing the importance of international community intervention to stop these aggressive behaviors, which constitute a blatant violation of the principles of international law.
The messages also confirmed that Iraq calls for international efforts to stop the Israeli escalation in the region and ensure respect for international laws and treaties, which contributes to enhancing security and stability in the region.
Iraq has requested to circulate the message to member states and deposit it as an official document with the relevant organizations.
