Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani meets in Erbil with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq.


The Prime Minister, Mr. Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, met today, Wednesday, with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Mr. Masrour Barzani, at the beginning of a visit that includes the cities of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah.

His Excellency congratulated the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government at the beginning of the meeting on the successful elections of the Kurdistan Region Parliament in Iraq. They also discussed the joint files between the federal government and the region, foremost among them the efforts to resume oil exports from the region, emphasizing the importance of organizing them in a way that meets the aspirations of citizens across the country. Additionally, they highlighted the importance of implementing the Federal Court's decision regarding the salaries of government employees in the region.

Mr. Al-Sudani pointed out the necessity of maintaining political stability in the region, noting that it is an essential pillar of stability in Baghdad and all of Iraq. He emphasized the need to form a new government in the region, where His Excellency expressed the federal government's readiness to provide assistance in this matter, alongside the importance of continuing the current levels of cooperation between the regional government and the federal government at the national level.

The preparations for conducting the population census were also discussed, emphasizing the need to exert maximum effort to ensure its successful completion, especially after finalizing the technical aspects with the Statistics Authority in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, given the importance of this matter in supporting development and planning steps across all sectors contributing to the advancement and progress of Iraq.

The meeting reviewed the developments in the regional situation, especially with the insistence of the Zionist occupation forces to expand the scope of the war, emphasizing the necessity of coordinating positions to preserve the country's security and sovereignty.
