Ukrainian Army Commander: North Korean Forces Preparing to Fight with Russia

The commander of the Ukrainian army, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported on Saturday that there are reports of North Korean forces being ready to fight alongside Russian troops.

Sersky wrote on Facebook about his conversations with Christopher Cavoli, who heads the U.S. European Command: "We have numerous reports of North Korean soldiers being ready to participate in combat operations alongside Russian forces.

Syrsky added that the situation on the front lines remains "difficult and shows signs of escalation" during the war that has been ongoing for more than two and a half years with Russia.

NATO and its partners in Asia (South Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand) "strongly" condemned on Friday North Korea's involvement alongside Russia in its "aggressive war" against Ukraine.

The NATO alliance stated in a statement that "the deployment of thousands of fighters (from North Korea) constitutes a serious intensification of the significant support this country provides for the aggressive war waged by Russia in a completely illegal manner against Ukraine," clarifying that its partners in Asia, as well as Ukraine, have joined this statement.

The challenges faced by the Ukrainian army on the battlefields are increasing, with a shortage of personnel and equipment and the fatigue suffered by the soldiers. However, these challenges have now reached a new level after North Korea sent more than 11,000 soldiers to Russia.
