Iraq announces the establishment of a quadrilateral council to connect the Development Road with Europe.

Transport Minister Razak Mohebbis revealed today, Saturday, that the Turkish side has established a quadripartite council that includes Iraq, Hungary, and Bulgaria to prepare for connecting the Development Road with Europe.

Mohebbis said in an interview with the official agency, followed by "Al-Awla," that "the preliminary designs for the railways within the Development Road project have reached 100%, and the ministry has started the final designs," confirming that "the completion rate of the preliminary designs for the highway has reached 84%, while the feasibility study has been completed by 100% and soil testing has been conducted over an area exceeding 1,000 kilometers."

He added that "work is ongoing to implement the project," explaining that "the ministerial statement from the second meeting held in Baghdad two days ago, which included the four transport ministers, organized the relationship, tasks, and responsibilities in managing the project."

He confirmed that "the statement included a clause to keep the door open for any country wishing to join the project," explaining that "upcoming discussions and studies will refine a systematic roadmap for implementing the development path."

He pointed out that "the project includes stations, the first of which is the Faw Port, which is considered the beating heart of the Development Road project, where the completion rates of the five docks have reached 100%," explaining that "the completion rates of the other port projects have also reached 75%."

He added, "The next phase of the project is the connection with Turkey leading to Europe," confirming that "the Turkish side has shown great interest in implementing the project and has established a quadrilateral council that includes Iraq, Hungary, and Bulgaria to prepare the route and connect it with Europe."
