On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, the President of the Nineveh Court of Appeals, Judge Raed Hamid, received the Archbishop of Mosul, Kirkuk, and the Kurdistan Region for the Syriac Orthodox, His Grace Bishop Nicodemus Daoud Matti Sharaf, along with the accompanying delegation consisting of the parish priests from the entire province.

The media center of the Supreme Judicial Council clarified that "the Chief Justice discussed with them the situation of the Christian community in Nineveh Governorate.

While "the Chief Justice affirmed the Supreme Judicial Council's support for the return of Christian citizens to their places of residence, as they are an integral part of the social fabric in Nineveh, and the importance of addressing their security and living conditions, as well as rehabilitating the churches and monasteries destroyed by the ISIS terrorist entity during its control of the province in 2014.

For his part, "His Excellency the Bishop thanked the Presidency of the Nineveh Court of Appeals for its continuous efforts in supporting the Christian community and all other components, and for establishing the principles of peaceful coexistence among the residents of the province.
