The Commission clarifies the mechanism for announcing the results of the Kurdistan Region Parliament elections.

The Independent High Electoral Commission announced today, Sunday, the mechanism and timing for announcing the election results, noting that there was a good turnout during the early morning hours, with the number of voters reaching two million and six hundred thousand in four electoral districts. It confirmed that the Board of Commissioners has not yet determined the location for announcing the results.

The spokesperson for the Independent High Electoral Commission, Jumana Al-Ghalai, said that "the announcement of the preliminary results will be within 24 hours for both the special and general votes, and these are partial preliminary results that cannot be contested.

Regarding the location of the results announcement, Al-Ghalai clarified that "the Board of Commissioners has not determined where the results will be announced, whether in the capital Baghdad or the region.

She added, "After the preliminary results are announced, the Board of Commissioners begins addressing the complaints, and then it has to count the votes and distribute the seats among the parties, alliances, and candidates. This is a lengthy mathematical process, after which the final results are announced. Then, the appeals process is declared, either in the judicial authority or in the offices of the Commission. After addressing the appeals, the Board of Commissioners ratifies the results, and the final results are announced.

She pointed out that "the number of voters exceeded two million and 600 thousand voters in 4 electoral districts," explaining that "the Electoral Commission paid great attention to people with special needs and the elderly to cast their votes and enter the polling stations, and there was a good turnout during the early morning hours."
