The U.S. Department of Defense (the Pentagon) announced on Tuesday the deployment of the THAAD missile defense system to Israel.
The ministry explained in a statement that "the components of the THAAD missile system began arriving in Israel on Monday, and the system will be ready to operate at full capacity in the near future.
The ministry added, "On October 14, an advanced team of U.S. military personnel and the initial components necessary to operate the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery arrived in Israel
The statement continued: "In the coming days, the arrival of additional American military personnel and components of the THAAD battery to Israel will continue.
The ministry added, "The battery will be able to operate at full capacity in the near future, but for operational security reasons, we will not discuss timelines.
The ministry pointed out that "the deployment of the THAAD system battery in Israel reaffirms the United States' commitment to defending Israel and protecting Americans in Israel from any ballistic missile attacks by Iran.
