The Independent High Electoral Commission announced today, Monday, the numbers of local and international observers and media participating in the Kurdistan Region Parliament elections 2024.

The official spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region Parliament elections, Aysar Yasin, said: "The commission is fully prepared to conduct the elections," noting that "the period set for the electoral campaigns will end in the middle of this month."

He continued: "The electoral materials and voting devices will be distributed among the centers in the four provinces of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq after the campaign, according to the plan set by the commission, which will be implemented on the 15th, 16th, and 17th of this October."

Yassin added that "the number of registered political observers reached 13,478 observers, in addition to 2,100 local observers, distributed among the various governorates as follows:

Erbil: 1340 political observers and 257 local observers.

Sulaymaniyah: 5,138 political observers and 644 local observers.

Duhok: 6,735 political observers and 1,723 local observers.

Halabja: 265 political observers and no local observers from organizations were registered.

He pointed out that "there are international observers representing 13 consulates and 17 organizations, while 20 international media outlets and 48 local ones will participate in the media coverage of the elections."

It is worth mentioning that the voting day for the Kurdistan Region Parliament (sixth term) for the year 2024 will be on the 20th of this October.
