Our national rowing team player, Mohamed Riad, won the gold medal in the lightweight singles event at the ongoing Asian Championship in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, with the participation of thirteen continental teams.
A member of the Executive Office of the Olympic Committee and President of the Iraqi Rowing Federation, Abdul Salam Khalaf, mentioned today, Sunday, that "the player Mohammed Riyad managed to win the gold medal in lightweight singles, while the Iranian national team player came in second place, followed by the Uzbek national team player in third place."
Khalaf added that "the competitions were extremely difficult, with the presence of the best and most prominent teams from the yellow continent that have a distinguished history in rowing. However, champion Mohammed Riyad, with his vast experience, managed to win the gold medal deservedly, surpassing the Iranian and Uzbek players and securing the precious metal."
It is worth mentioning that the doubles team consisting of players Mohamed Riad and Bakr Shehab won the silver medal in the heavy doubles final, while the Chinese doubles team won the gold medal, and the Uzbek doubles team secured third place and the bronze medal.
